        Bono habló sobre la canción en una entrevista para Sonicnet.com. ’Está inspirada en una líder Birmana, Aung San Suu Kyi, y en su lucha por elecciones libres en Birmania. Dejó las comodidades de su casa en Oxford, como académica, y su familia su hijo y su marido, y se marchó a hacer lo correcto para su pueblo. Y fue este uno de los grandes actos de coraje en el siglo 20. Y continuará en el siglo 21 – esta bajo arresto domiciliario desde hace algún tiempo, y la gente, ya sabes, todos estamos muy preocupados de cómo le irá. Al principio, la escribí desde el punto de vista de su familia, o de su hijo, o de su marido, ya sabes, y entonces al final lo deje un poco abstracto y la deje como una canción de amor acerca de alguien que tiene que dejar una relación por que tiene que hacer lo correcto.’
