Un poco de Historia:

        Bono escribió la canción en su luna de miel y apareció en el álbum War. La portada del single presenta a Peter Rowan, hermano de Derek 'Guggi' Rowan, quien iba a aparecer en varias portadas de U2. Este single hizo su primera aparición en un show de U2 en Dundee el 26 de febrero de 1983, en el concierto que abría la gira War.

        U2 también tocó la canción en el Top of the Pops en el Reino Unido el 31 de marzo de 1983. Cuando U2 la tocó en su primera aparición en Japón el 22 de noviembre de 1983, Bono insertó algunos fragmentos del Sexual Healing de Marvin Gaye. En un concierto de Simple Minds el 28 de junio de 1986 en el Croke Park de Dublín, los teloneros In Tua Tua tocaron Two Hearts Beat as One y más tarde Bono fue invitado durante el concierto de Simple Minds. Francois Kerkovian proveyó varios remixes para bailar en los formatos doble pack  y 12" del single. El 12" del Reino Unido también llevaba un remix de New Year's Day con letras alternativas y un párrafo extra. El remix también aparece en el single de Sunday Bloody Sunday.

        Alcanzó el Nº 5 en la encuesta del Rip It Up en Nueva Zelanda ese año como single más popular. Un sampler de Polygram en 1994 llamado Sound Savers Nº 5 tocó la canción. La Royal Philarmonic Orchestra, en 'Pride: The RPO Plays U2' también hizo una versión.
