        Bono declaró a Rolling Stone que Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of se inspiró en la misteriosa muerte del cantante de INXS Michael Hutchence, y en que ellos dos debatieron sobre el suicidio antes de su muerte y llegaron a la conclusión de que el suicidio era algo “patético”.

        Hablando a Rolling Stone, Bono dijo que el y Hutchence, un amigo íntimo, habían debatido sobre el suicidio antes de que fuera encontrado colgado en una habitación de hotel en Sydney en 1997: ‘Hablamos sobre el suicidio una cuantas veces y ambos coincidimos en lo patético que era’. Bono dijo que se “habian prometido el uno al otro” no se suicidarían jamás.

        ‘Stuck in a moment… es una discusión,’ dijo. ‘es una pelea entre compañeros. Es como si intentaras persuadirlos de una idea. En mi caso es una pelea que no tuve mientras Michael Hutchence vivió. Siento que el más profundo de los respetos hacia el sería no escribir una jodida y estúpida sensiblera canción, así que escribí una realmente dura y asquerosa…como dándole cachetes en la cabeza. Y lo siento de verdad, pero así es como me salio.’
