Un poco de Historia:

Please aparece en el álbum Pop. La portada presenta una serigrafía de estilo Warholiano de los líderes del los principales partidos en el conflicto de Irlanda del Norte. Desde arriba a la izquierza, en el sentido de las agujas del reloj : Gerry Adams (presidente del Sinn Fein), David Trimble (presidente del Partido Unionista del Ulster), John Hume (presidente del Partido Social Democrata & Laborista), y Ian Paisley (presidente del Partido Democrático Unionista del Ulster). El EP Please (Popheart) presenta la canción en directo en Rotterdam el 18 de Julio de 1997. Fue tocada en directo durante el concierto de apertura de la gira PopMart en Las Vegas el 25 de abril de 1997. Fue una de las cinco canciones por U2 en el Tibetan Freedom Concert el 8 de Junio de 1997 en Randall’s Island, New York. Bono insertó un trozo de Hallelujah durante su interpretación. El libro Inspirations, es una recopilación de letras manuscritas donadas por varios artistas para la subasta Hits Under The Hammer. U2 contribuyó con dos canciones – Please y Sweetest Thing. Una parte de los beneficios de la venta de Inspirations fueron a benefício de las organizaciones benéficas Nordoff - Robbins y Norwood Ravenswood para personas sin recursos.

         U2 también tocó la canción durante los MTV Music Awards el 4 de Septiembre de 1997. Durante la inauguración de los 15 días del festival ‘The Island: Arts From Ireland’ que tuvo lugar en el Kennedy Center el sábado 13 de mayo del año 2000, Elvis Costello hizo una versión de Please. Las actuaciones fueron grabadas para una eventual retransmisión en PBS. En una entrevista para el periódico Británico The Independent on Sunday, Costello dijo, ‘ Sus (las de U2) canciones son recibidas a menudo con una enorme producción, a veces con un gran escenario, y aun así son realmente bonitas. Muy dulces. No creo que estemos aquí para explicarlo todo, necesariamente. Un puñado de gente pagando 100 dólares para sentarse en asientos de terciopelo no va a cambiar nada.’
