Un poco de Historia:

        La canción aparece en el álbum Achtung Baby. Todos los derechos de autor de este single fueron para la investigación del SIDA y la portada, de los búfalos cayendo por un acantilado, fue una fotografía del artista David Wojnarowicz. La cara-b incluye una versión del Satellite of Love de Lou Reed con la voz de fondo de Gavin Friday. U2 estrenó la canción por primera vez el 27 de febrero de 1992 en Lakeland, Florida mientras ensayaban para la próxima gira Zoo – Tv. La actuación fue retransmitida esa misma noche en Top of the Pops. Adam y Larry se unieron a Michael Stipe y Mike Mills de REM en una interpretación acústica de One el 20 de enero de 1993 en el Baile Inagural del MTV Rock & Roll. Se hicieron llamar Automatic Baby. El violinista Jo Shankar y el percusionista Stefan Rager se unieron a Bono y a The Edge para una interpretación de One en el Festival Contra El Racismo en Hamburgo, Alemania el 31 de enero de 1993. Bono, The Edge, y Brian Eno como Passengers tocaron una versión orquestal en el encuentro Pavarotti and Friends : Juntos por los Niños de Bosnia en Modena, Italia el 12 de septiembre de 1995 a beneficio de la fundación War Child. También fue una de las cinco canciones que U2 tocó en el concierto Tibetan Freedom el 8 de junio de 1997 en la Isla de Randall. Un CD triple de este concierto fue editado que presentaba a U2 tocando One y una entrevista con Bono. Los Tea Party tocaron la canción y Robbie Willians cuando encabezó el Slane Festival en 1999. Bono, acompañado por Zucchero, toco One en el concierto NetAid en el Giant’s Stadium el 9 de Octubre de 1999 para conseguir dinero para la campaña Drop the Debt.

        Bono y Daniel Lanois hicieron una versión acústica en las escaleras del Lincoln Memorial para celebrar la gala America’s Millennium. U2 tocó la canción en directo cuando recibieron el Premio Freedom of the City. Un popurri de One / Unchained Melody del concierto de U2 en Sydney del 27 de noviembre de 1993 apareció en el album Hold On / The BBC Radio 1 FM Sessions.

 Los siguientes artistas han grabado una versión de One: Information Society en We Will Follow : A Tribute to U2; la Royal Philamonic Orchestra en Pride: The RPO Plays U2; Straitjackets en Zoovenir – A Tribute to U2; y Studio 99 en The Best of U2 – A Tribute. La cantante soul británica Mica Paris también editó una versión de One con varias remezclas.
